Are you passionate about ocean conservation and eager to make a global impact?

We are looking for a motivated youth representative from the EU region to join our core committee!

Celebrated every year on 1 August, MPA Day is a global observance dedicated to highlighting the importance of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) for ocean conservation, sustainable development, and community well-being.

Launched in 2021 by a consortium of South African organizations, MPA Day fills a critical gap among global environmental observances by shining a spotlight exclusively on MPAs. The date marks a milestone in marine conservation—the legal protection of 20 new or expanded MPAs in South Africa on 1 August 2019.

Since its inception, MPA Day has grown into a vibrant international movement, endorsed by the United Nations Ocean Decade and supported by individuals, communities, institutions, and governments around the world.

Who we're looking for?

We invite applications from young ocean advocates who are:

18–30 years old
Passionate about marine conservation and protection
Ready to leverage their networks for awareness and outreach
Ambitious, enthusiastic, and proactive
Available to attend monthly committee meetings

Important note

This is a volunteer role. While it is not financially compensated, it provides valuable professional experience, strong visibility in the marine conservation community, and connections that can support future career pathways.
